Who is responsible
Clairsoir is a service offered by Eric McLaren. Eric McLaren is the person in charge of the protection of personal information. To write to him: confidentialite@clairsoir.ca.
What this policy covers
The Clairsoir chat window, installed on landlords' rental pages, and this site.
On a landlord's page, the window works on that landlord's behalf: their team receives your requests. Their own privacy policy also applies, and the window links to it before you start.
The example on the try page is the same window and works the same way: you agree first, every message you write there is processed by Anthropic in the United States, and the conversation is kept 90 days after your last message, then deleted. Its building is made up, so a request left there comes to Clairsoir.
What the window collects
- Nothing, until you click "Agree and start".
- After that, the messages you write and the window's answers.
- If you ask to talk to a person: your name, your phone number or email and, if you want, the best time to reach you.
- In your browser: a conversation identifier and the date you agreed, kept in local storage (not a cookie), so the conversation carries on if you reload the page. After 24 hours, the window asks for your agreement again.
Why
- To answer your questions about a unit, from what the building page publishes.
- To pass your request to the landlord's leasing team, if you ask.
- To pick the conversation back up if you return.
Clairsoir does not sell your information and does not use it for advertising.
Who receives your information
- The landlord's leasing team: your name, your number or email, and your questions, by email.
- Anthropic, in the United States: your messages, so Claude can write the answers.
- The host of the window's server.
- The service that delivers the request emails.
Your messages leave Quebec
The window's answers are written by Claude, an artificial intelligence model made by Anthropic, a United States company. Every message you write is therefore sent to Anthropic and processed in the United States, where privacy laws are not Quebec's.
How long
Period: 90 days after your last message, then deletion.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and withdraw your agreement. Write to confidentialite@clairsoir.ca with the building and, if you have it, your request number (it starts with "tkt"). We answer within 30 days.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Confidentiality incidents
If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned.
